Tottenham face United on Sunday in the PL battle. Earlier this week Spurs defeated Chelsea 1-0. Pochettino claims they were able to shut down Hazard. Now it is time to close down Pogba, the coach implies.
As Tottenham prepare to host Manchester United in the Premier League at Wembley on Sunday, the Spurs manager talked about the importance of closing down star players, and how his team managed to do it against Chelsea in the League Cup.
Pochettino compared Man United's midfielder Paul Pogba to Chelsea's Eden Hazard, who was effectively shut down in Carabao Cup game.However, Pochettino also points out that Tottenham's defensive plan is not solely about closing down opposing team's star players:
"When you play in this Premier League, every weekend, or every three days as we've been playing in the last few months, always it's about the opponent have a few players that can make the difference
."Like last Tuesday it was Hazard, and now Pogba. Pogba is a very talented player, a great player of course. But it's not only Pogba or Hazard, there are different players around.
"Of course they are special players. Of course, we are not going to be only focused on Pogba, we need to be focused on the whole team, not just one player."
